Trunk Show with Joseph Brooks

On Saturday April 18th, Joseph Brooks will be in store. We are excited to see what new gem stones he has found on his latest trip to Tucson.

The jewelry of Joseph Brooks embodies sensuality and strength, handcraft and raw beauty, the bedrock and punk rock.  With an interest in stone properties and energies, from tourmaline to spirit quartz to black onyx, every piece in his extensive line highlights the true essence of each handpicked stone.

Drawn initially to American turquoise which is difficult to find in a world of mostly fake and dyed stones. He finally located a mine in northern Arizona whose owners have been operating and producing spectacular turquoise since 1962. These stones inspired Joseph to begin designing a jewelry collection featuring this signature Southwest stone.

JEWELRY WORKSHOP

JEWELRY WORKSHOP

During each 3.5 hour session, we'll work in sterling silver (brass & copper too -if you like to mix metals!), and we'll experiment with different techniques like cutting out shapes, melting, layering and texturing metals. You can make something flat or go for a more 3D design. You can concentrate on one bigger piece or do a couple littles - the options are kind of endless! I'll have some inspo samples there, so you can see what's possible and get some ideas. And of course Allison's whole store is an inspo sample!

During this approx 3.5 hour session, we'll work in sterling silver (with the option to also use brass or bronze, if you'd like to mix metals) to make freeform and / or uniform shaped links, and form 7" of chain!

Your handmade chain can then become the perfect bracelet. Or it can be combined with chain findings to become longer and make a necklace. A sterling lobster clasp will be provided for either application.

The base price for this workshop is $240. This is for making your chain links into a bracelet.

If you decide to make a necklace, a variety of chain styles will be available to choose from and purchase at the workshop (ranging from $20-$80 per foot).

No previous experience necessary, we’re starting from the beginning! You’ll learn to form, solder, hammer/texture and polish your chain links! If you have some previous experience, we can accommodate your skill level, but this will be an intro class.

These workshops are limited to 6 participants to ensure that each gets plenty of support and guidance.
